Blade Settings

Configure the cutting wall, tip profile, offsets, and edge behavior.

Blade settings control the cutting wall, the thin wall that cuts the dough. The controls shown depend on the selected cutter type.

Depth and thickness

Blade depth (in V7, Depth in the Blade section) is the cutting-wall height above the handle base. Blade thickness (in V7, Thickness in the Blade section) is the wall width. The defaults are 12.5 mm deep and 0.8 mm thick.

These values stay the same when you change Size. Scaling a downloaded file in a slicer changes them; see Resize cutters in the Designer, not in your slicer.

For Cake Pop Mold, the preview also shows the generated blade depth. Cookiecad may add height so the plunger back and face fit while preserving the requested usable mold depth.

Extra blade

Add extra blade (in V7, Extra) thickens the lower part of the wall above the handle base. Extra blade depth (in V7, Depth) sets how high this thicker section reaches from the base; Extra blade thickness (in V7, Extra thickness) sets the width added to the regular blade. It does not increase the total blade depth.

The default extra depth is 10 mm. Extra blade is off by default; turning it on starts the extra thickness at 0.4 mm. Keep Extra blade depth at or below Blade depth, or the thicker section is not generated.

Sharp tip

Sharp cutting edge (in V7, Sharp) adds a chamfered tip. Chamfer tip width (in V7, Tip width) sets the flat width at the cutting edge, and Chamfer height sets the height of the taper. Defaults are 0.4 mm and 2 mm. Chamfer tip width cannot exceed Blade thickness.

Offset inward

Cookiecad normally builds the blade outside the traced path, with its inner wall on the path. Offset inward shifts the path inward by Blade thickness before building the blade. This is a Premium setting.

Rounded edge

Rounded edge adds a semicircular profile to the tip instead of leaving it flat. This is a Premium setting.

Symmetric blade

Symmetric blade centers the blade on the traced path and mirrors its profile on both sides. When off, the inside is flush with the path and the blade sits on the outside. This is a Premium setting.

Fondant blade

Fondant blade applies an inward taper across the full cutting-wall height. Taper width controls the amount; the default is 1.5 mm. It cannot be combined with Symmetric blade and requires Premium.

Use inner edges only

Inner edges only (in V7, Use inner edges only) builds cutters from supported interior boundaries instead of the design's outer boundary. It requires compatible nested paths and Premium, and appears only for supported cutter types.
